Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about radiology scans.

Yes, MRI detects images using magnetic fields and radio waves, so there is no radiation exposure. However, you cannot have an MRI if you have certain metal implants, pacemakers, or cochlear implants. Always inform the technician about any implants.

CT scans are very fast, usually taking only a few minutes. If contrast dye is needed, the preparation might take a bit longer, but the scan itself is very quick.

For certain ultrasounds, like those of the abdomen or gallbladder, you may need to fast for 6-8 hours. For others, like pelvic ultrasounds, you may need to drink water to have a full bladder. Specific instructions will be given when you book your appointment.

X-rays use radiation to image bones and dense tissues quickly. MRIs use strong magnets and radio waves to create detailed images of soft tissues, organs, and nerves without radiation.

Modern digital X-rays use extremely low doses of radiation, which are considered safe for most people. However, if you are pregnant or think you might be, please inform the technician immediately.

For standard X-rays, reports are usually available within an hour. For specialized scans like CT or MRI, reporting typically takes 4-6 hours or up to 24 hours for complex cases, as they are reviewed by our specialists.
